BENARD

A century and a half to sweeten L isboa

Elie Benard arrived in Lisbon with his parents and siblings from France in the mid-19th century. Born into a family of bakers and canners with tradition, his name quickly became a reference in a Portuguese capital surrendered to the novelties and quality of its products. From São Roque and Loreto, Casimiro Benard, Elie's son, moved to Rua Garrett and his Patisserie Benard continued to surprise for its refinement and good taste. BENARD A century and a half to sweeten Lisbon is the story of an establishment that, crossing regimes, revolutions, fashions and so many generations that roamed Chiado, is part of the identity and memory we have of the city itself.
