Elie Benard arrived in Lisbon with his parents and siblings from France in the mid-19th century. Born into a family of bakers and canners with a tradition, his name quickly became a reference in a Portuguese capital surrendered to the novelties and quality of its products. From São Roque and Loreto, Casimiro Benard, Elie's son, moved to Rua Garrett and his Patisserie Benard continued to surprise for its refinement and good taste.
